Fultonville, NY - On a warm summer evening the
Modifieds and Budget Sportsman shed thier roofs for Topless Night at the
Glen Ridge Motorsports Park opening up the fans view to see the drivers
hard at work. K.C. McCoy and Richie Price would lead the Modified field to the green with Price taking the early lead. Starting 11th Floyd Billington was on the charge using the extreme outside of the speedway making his way into the top 5 and eventually up to second on the heels of Price with Jeff Brownell Jr. in tow. The yellow flag would fly for defending Track Champion Craig Hanson who came to a stop with a flat tire. On the restart Billington would swing to the top taking the lead from Price. Price would battle back on thebottom retaking the lead while the top two battled Brownell would ride a close third look for a way past. Lap traffic would come into play as they battled in front of the leaders. The battle would cause the leader to have to abruptly checkup in turn 1. Brownell was unable to check up in time running over the front end of Price knocking the Sauqoit, New York driver out of the race. On the restart Brownell would take the lead from Billington and cruise to the topless night victory. Billington would be second followed by Randy Hotaling, Jamike Sowle, and Josh Pieniazek. Steve Douglas and Jay Lias lead the Budget Sportsman field to the green with 3rd place starter Korey Wilder taking the early lead. Wilder's lead would be short lived as he would lose control spinning in front of the field to bring out the yellow. He would continue on and rejoin the field. Steve Douglas would now assume the point with Don Bellen in tow. Bellen would pressure Douglas taking over the lead with just a handful of lap remaining in the race. A late race yellow for the 22j of Jeremy Wilder would close the field and give his cousin Korey a shot at the win. On the start Korey would swing to the outside taking over the lead from Bellen. Wilder would go on to take his second career victory followed by Bellen, John Constantino, Douglas, and Chris McCoy. Darrel Older would lead the Street Stock field to its start and take the early lead while the second place battle heated up behind him. Shannon McDermott, Dave Bayes and Dave Pope would battle for second while Chuck McSpirit and last weeks winner Justin Knight closed in. Pope would get by McDermott first and set his sights on Older. Using the low line off turn 2, Pope would take the lead. Older would keep his sights set on Pope but could not mount a serious challenge as Pope took the victory. Older was second followed by McSpirit, Knight, and Bayes. As the green flew in the Cruiser feature Pat McSpirit would jump into the early lead from his 4th place spot with 6th place starter Laurie Fallis hot on his heels. McSpirits strong run at the point would come to an abrupt halt after contact with Fallis would send his number 0 mount spinning into the infield. As the yellow flew Chris Andrew and Kerry Hollenbeck would make contact sending Hollenbeck spinning. Everyone would rejoin the tail of the field. Eric Bonney would now assume the lead as the race got back underway with Bobby Rhinehardt in second. Jamie Warner and Nathan Sitterly were on the move and would slip by Rhinehardt into second and third respectively. Sitterly would apply pressure to Warner and with 1 lap to go would dive to the outside of Warner. The pass would not work and would open the door for Kerry Hollenbeck as he continued his charge back through the field. At the checkers the win would go to Bonney with Warner, Hollenbeck, Sitterly, and Rhinehardt rounding out the field. The 2008 season continues next Friday, July 18th, with Kiwanis Hard Charger Night and installment number 3 of the Harry's Auto Street Stock Series. Gates open at 5pm with racing scheduled for 7:30pm.
