Fultonville, NY - It's been an up and down season
for defending track champion Craig Hanson. The Tribes Hill, New York
native tasted victory on May 9th but has since struggled. Flat tires,
spins, and suspension damage last week had derailed all of Hanson's
charges to the front. Carmen Carnibucci and Tim Mayne led the modifed field to the green with Mayne powering into the top spot around the outside of turns 1 and 2. Paul Kinney used his 3rd place starting spot to place pressure on Mayne with Jeff Sheely and Craig Hanson in tow. Back in the back Jeff Brownell Jr. would be on the move picking his way through traffic and into pursuit of the leader. Hanson would make his way past Mayne first and into the top spot while Kinney settled into second. Kinney's bid for the win would come to and end after he brushed the front stretch wall and came to a stop in turn 1. He would recover to finish 7th. Back up front Hanson would lead while Brownell started to put the pressure on. At the checkers the win would go to Hanson. Brownell would be second followed by Sheely, John Ramsey and Erik Nelson. Chris McCoy and Steve Douglas would lead the Budget Sportsman to the line with Douglas jumping out to the early lead. The asphalt racing convert would be strong on the point while Angela Hoard, Alex Alberti and Jeremiah Munson would battle for the second spot. Douglas's strong run would come to an end in turn 2 with rear suspension problems ending his night. Alex Alberti would take over the top spot while Munson would stay right with him. Munson working the bottom would slip under Alberti in turn 4 forcing him wide. Alberti would glance off the front stretch wall but hold on to the second spot. On lap 19 the yellow would fly for Brittany Liggett as she came to rest over the top of the bank in turn 3. Under the yellow Alberti would express his displeasure with Munson hitting him in turn 2. Alberti would retire pitside after the contact. The entire field would follow him off the speedway under the caution thinking the race was complete. When they field came back and the green came back out Munson would hold on to take the victory, his 4th of the season. Angela Hoard would be second followed by Korey Wilder, Brian Jones, and Robert Gray. Round 2 of the Bob VanAernam Memorial/ Harry's Auto Street Stock Series was on tap for the street stocks. Randy Cosselman and Dave Sullivan would lead the field to the green. Cosselman would take the early lead but issues would strike the Bleecker, New York driver off turn 2 sending the field scrambling. Justin Knight and Luke Horning would be collected up in the mess and would retire from the race. Up front Dave Bayes was on the move taking his black number 3 past Sullivan and into the top spot. Brian Cosselman and Dave Pope would be hot on his heels also moving past Sullivan. Pope would have his #27 mount working well as he slipped underneath Bayes to take the top spot. Bayes would stay right with the Pope as Rob VanAernam made his way to 4th and started to track down the leaders. The yellow flag would fly with 2 laps to go. As the yellow flew Cosselman and Pope would make contact sending the Cosselman to the pits with damage and flattening the left front tire on Pope's car. As the green flag flew Pope would hold onto the lead while VanAernam looked for a way by on the outside. As the white flag flew Pope would get sideways in turn 1 and Bayes would take advantage slipping up the middle on Pope and VanAernam to take the lead. VanAernam would make one last ditch effort to slip by Bayes in turn 3 but no avail as Bayes would take the victory. VanAernam would be second followed by Chuck McSpirit, Sullivan, and Pope. Rookie Cruiser pilot Nathan Sitterly and Len St. Andrews would lead the field to the green with Sitterly jumping out to the early lead. Behind him Eric Bonney and Jamie Warner would battle for the second spot with Chris Andrew in tow. Starting from the 5th row Bruce Liddle would be on the move charging into the top 5 before troubles would sideline him. Kerry Hollenbeck would start to pick his way to the front moving into third past Heather King and Andrew. Up front Sitterly would start to pull away as Hollenbeck ducked under Bonney into second. As the laps wound down traffic would be an issue as Hollenbeck closed in on Sitterly. Sitterly would look to go high around the lap car of Mark Vosburgh and would have to check up. Hollenbeck would take full advantage taking over the lead. Hollenbeck would take the checkers, his 8th win in 9 races. Sitterly would take second followed by Bonney, King and Andrew. Don Harvey and Michael Kiser would lead the CNYMS feature to the line with Harvey taking the lead. Harvey would quickly pull away from Kiser while back in the field Tim Durland was on the move picking his way into the 4th spot. Harvey would start to catch lap traffic allowing Kiser to close in. Using the lap cars as a pick Kiser would slip past and into the lead. The red flag would fly for the 20/20 of Dale Friedly would slip high catching the outside wall and rolling his car. He would walk away. The ensuing restart would setup a shootout to the finish but Kiser was not to be denied taking the victory. Durland would slip past to finish second followed by Harvey, Shaun Gosselin, and Art Kiser.
