Fast Lube of Watertown and Caprara’s Can-Am
presented a full night of racing on Friday, May 15, 2009. In action were
the DIRTcar Big Block and Small Block Modifieds, two DIRTcar Sportsman
Features, two DIRTcar Street Stock Features, DIRTcar Crate Late Models,
IMCA Modifieds, and Purestocks. The make up DIRTcar Sportsman feature from May 8th was led to Matt Burdick’s green flag by Zach Amo and Kenny Bearup. Kenny Bearup took over the early lead while Zach Amo and Josh Van Brocklin filled out the top three. On a lap four restart, Matt Billings used the high side to his advantage to take over the command of the field. On a lap five restart, Matt Billings kept command of the field while Jordan Bennett and Tim Sears filled out the top three. The top five cars begun to string themselves out on the track while leader Matt Billings began to enter lap traffic. Brandon Sweet moved under Dylan Evoy on a lap 16 restart to take over position number five while Matt Billings continued to stretch out his lead. As the checkered flag dropped, Matt Billings would collect the win while Jordan Bennett and Tim Sears would round out the top three. In the make up DIRTcar Street Stock Feature from May 1st, Phil Walker and Mike Durham led the field to the green flag. Phil Walker took over the early command of the race with Sid Harmer Sr. and Ron Wadforth filling out the top three. Wadforth would quickly take charge and by lap three would have command of the field while Sid Harmer Sr. and Phil Walker would fill out the top three. Dave Pope would challenge Phil Walker for the third position but would have no success. Greg Belyea would move into the fourth position by lap nine and would then move into the third position by lap 13. As the checkered flag fell, Ron Wadforth would collect the win while Sid Harmer Sr and Greg Belyea would complete the top three. Jason Potter and Tyler Bartlett led the Big Block and Small Block Modifieds to the green flag in their 30 lap feature event. Tyler Bartlett took over the early lead on the field while the rest of the field battled for position. Billy Dunn wasted no time getting to the front as he moved under Ryan Bartlett and Lance Willix to take over the third position. Jason Potter began to track down the leader while Dunn closed on the top two. On lap four, Jason Potter moved under Tyler Bartlett in attempt to take over the lead. Dunn then found the opportunity to slide under them both as they raced three wide down the front stretch and into turn one with Billy Dunn coming out with the lead. On lap nine, Justin Haers moved under Robby Bellinger to take over the second position and begin his assault on Billy Dunn. As the checkered flag waved, Billy Dunn would collect the win while Justin Haers and Robby Bellinger complete the top three. Christine Martin and Zach Amo led the Sportsman to their 25 lap feature event. Christine Martin took over the lead on the field while Zach Ammo, Ken Bearup, Tom Conklin and Chris Taylor filled out the top five. Adam Turner used the inside groove to his advantage to move under Sam Reakes to take over the third position. On a lap four restart, Sammy Reakes and Tim Sears moved past Christine Martin to take over positions one and two while Brandon Sweet and Chris Raabe entered the top five. On lap 11, Tim Sears moved under Sammy Reakes in hopes of taking over the lead but Reakes used the high lane to his advantage to remain at the end of the field. Jeff Stevenson moved high around Matt Billings coming out of turn four on lap 18 to take over the fifth position while Tim Sears moved under Sammy Reakes to take over the lead on the field. As the checkered flag waved, Tim Sears would collect the win while Sammy Reakes and Chris Raabe would round out the top three. Philip Walker and Mark Barker led the Street Stocks to green with Phil Walker taking the early lead on the field. By lap three, Russ Marsden put his car at the front of the field while Ron Wadforth and Phil Walker battled for position behind him. Ron Wadforth moved under Phil Walker for the second position and then began to battle with Russ Marsden for the lead. By lap 12, Ron Wadforth moved under Russ Marsden to take the lead while Greg Belyea had moved around Phil Walker to take over third. As the checkered flag fell, Ron Wadforth would collect the win while Russ Marsden and Greg Belyea rounded out the top three. Brian Holder and Rick Duskas led the IMCA Feature to their green flag with Mike Cousins jumping out to the lead from his fourth place position. Dale Caswell began his pursuit of Cousins as the two ran nose to tail around the speedway. On lap four, Dale Caswell moved high around Cousins in turn number one to take over the lead while Ryan Scott entered the top three and began to track down the leaders. Ryan Scott then moved around Mike Cousins to take over the second position as the laps on the field came to a close. When the checkered flag dropped, Dale Caswell would collect the win while Ryan Scott and Mike Cousins would complete the top three. Al Harris and Roger Bushey led the purestocks to their green flag with Roger Bushey taking over the initial lead of the field. Shane Ray made a mad dash for the front of the field and by lap five had taken over command of the field. Steven Gilmore followed Ray to the front by taking over the second position while Roger Bushey settled into third leaving the rest of the field battling behind them. As the checkered flag dropped, Shane Ray would collect the win over Steven Gilmore and Roger Bushey. Racing action will continue on Friday May 22, 2009 and Saturday, May 23, 2009 as part of American Traditions Motorsports Weekend. In racing action Friday, May 22, 2009 will be the Big Block and Small Block Modifieds, a 358 Modified Dash for Cash, Sportsman, SUNY Canton Street Stock Series, IMCA Modifieds and Crate Late Models. On Saturday, May 23, 2009 will be the Big Block and Small Block Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman Series, SUNY Canton Street Stock Series, Thunder Cars and Purestocks.
